The Wire
On the deadly, drug-infested streets of West Baltimore, Maryland, a drug ring's leader's use of intimidation to clear one of his young dealers of a murder charge disgusts homicide detective Jimmy McNulty (Dominic West--Rock Star), a member of a joint homicide/narcotics unit created to investigate a single drug-dealing operation. Venting his frustration that the gang is responsible for as many as 10 unsolved murders, McNulty gets reassigned to a detail nobody wants. While his superiors and co-workers just want the heat to die down so they can drop the investigation, McNulty and an unlikely ally, narcotics detective Shakima Greggs (Sonja Sohn--Shaft), commit themselves to use any means necessary, including heightened surveillance and sophisticated wiretaps, to bust the gang and its elusive leader in this gritty police drama.
Season 1
On the drug-infested streets of West Baltimore, there are good guys and there are bad guys. Sometimes you need more than a badge to tell them apart. In Season One of the raw, realistic HBO drama series, a joint homicide/narcotics police detail is created to investigate a drug-dealing operation.
Season 2
When McNulty is transferred to harbor patrol, he gets caught up in a major homicide investigation. Season Two of the gritty HBO police drama takes on a new case set against the backdrop of the Baltimore waterfront, where the longshoremen's union struggles to survive in a changing economy.
Season 3
The heat is on in Baltimore. In Season Three of the gritty HBO drama series, the war on crime is being lost...at a highly inconvenient time. It's an election year, and a desperate mayor calls for an end to the drug wars and the rising body count--but the dealers always seem to be one step ahead.
Season 4
As the vitriolic mayoral race continues, Season Four of the drama series The Wire focuses on four boys from West Baltimore whose experiences attending school and struggling with the temptations of crime shed light on the role of the urban educational system in shaping young lives.
Season 5
The places and faces change, but the game remains the same. In the fifth and final season of this explosive drama series, the show expands its focus into the media--specifically the role of newspapers in big-city bureaucracy--as it follows the fictional staff of a real newspaper.
