Sharp Objects (2018)

“A child weaned on poison considers harm a comfort.”

When imagining a classic sleuthing who-dun-it, you probably aren’t typically imagining quite the entity that is Sharp Objects.

A viscerally claustrophobic, hot, sticky, rural American-gothic landscape haunted by cynical roller-skate-wearing, vodka-shotting characters of the noughties. Alongside a wealth of multifaceted individuals, masterfully uncomfortable visuals, a harrowing family dynamic and an ever-looming dollhouse will leave your skin crawling and your stomach tight.

Though every twist, truth, and memory uncovered makes each episode more enthralling than the last as we, alongside Camille (Amy Adams), return to Wind Gap, Missouri, as she is tasked with reporting on the horrifying deaths of several young girls in her hometown. Each gruesome and poignant detail unveiling to her she is more gravely intertwined with these murders than she could have ever imagined when being assigned the article…

About Sharp Objects
Based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl), directed by Jean-Marc Vallée (Dallas Buyers Club, Emmy® winner for HBO's Big Little Lies) and with Marti Noxon (Dietland, Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce, Unreal) as series showrunner, Sharp Objects is an eight-episode limited drama series that stars five-time Oscar® nominee Amy Adams as Camille Preaker, a city journalist with a history of psychiatric issues, who returns to her rural hometown of Wind Gap, MO to cover the apparent murders of two preteen girls. Trying to put together a psychological puzzle from her past, Camille finds herself clashing with her overbearing mother, Adora (Patricia Clarkson), falling back into a dangerous series of self-destructive habits, and identifying with the young murder victims a bit too closely.

Fracture (2007)

“You look closely enough, you'll find that everything has a weak spot where it can break, sooner or later.”

Academy Award Winner Anthony Hopkins and Academy Award Nominee Ryan Gosling play a game of cat-and-mouse in this deliciously slick 2000s psychological thriller, where the truth is what you can prove.

When wealthy engineer Theodore “Ted” Crawford (Anthony Hopkins) realises his wife is having an affair with detective Robert Nunally (Billy Burke), he shoots her in the head and confesses his actions. It’s down to rising star William “Willy” Beachum (Ryan Gosling) to close this apparently open and shut case and move onto his shiny new job. What follows is a battle of wits that will keep you on the edge of your seat, and on your toes, as Gosling and Hopkins spar in 2007 archive gem: Fracture.
