It's 1954 in New York City. The Golden Age of live television. And aspiring junior writer Benjy Stone lands his dream job--a dream that quickly becomes a nightmare in My Favorite Year.

Young Benjy (Mark Linn-Baker) gets assigned to escort the show's guest star for the week, movie legend Alan Swann (Peter O'Toole)--a lovable, alcoholic rogue and Benjy's hero. Benjy must make sure Swann arrives on set, on time and sober. Simple. But Swann sweeps Benjy into a whirlwind romp through the City as the star tutors his new protégé in the fine arts of exuding confidence, charming women and becoming gloriously drunk. The wonderful week comes to a shocking end when Swann realizes he has agreed to appear live--something the movie star has never done, something that terrifies him. Now, will Benjy keep his job and protect his idol's reputation by getting him in front of the camera ... sober? Will Benjy remember 1954, his first brush with greatness and with celebrity, as My Favorite Year?
