Laurel and Hardy bumble their way across the British Empire, and theEmpire may never be the same after the comic duo lands in BonnieScotland.Stan Laurel (himself), the blacksheep of the MacLaurel clan, and his palOliver Hardy (himself) stow away on a ship bound for Scotland to claimLaurel's share of his late uncle Angus Ian MacLaurel's estate. ButLaurel's inheritance consists of a snuffbox and a dusty pair ofbagpipes. MacLaurel leaves his fortune to his beautiful granddaughter ,Lorna (June Lang), on the condition that she travel to the Raj and staywith her aunt Lady Violet Ormsby (Anne Grey) and Lady Vi's handsomebrother, Colonel Gregor MacGregor (Vernon Steele). Meanwhile Laurel andHardy are inadvertently drafted into His Majesty's Army and sent toIndia with Lorna's true love, Alan Douglas (William Janney).
